EUGENE, OREGON – Eugene police responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on West 6th and Almaden Street.
A box truck has struck the pedestrian when he stepped into the roadway from the north curb. He was taken to Riverbend Hospital with life-threatening injuries. However, it seems as though the man will survive his injuries.
The Eugene Police Major Collisions Investigation team was called in and is investigating the accident. As of now, the public knows very little about what happened, as the investigation just began. However, given some time, the details of this event will emerge.
Pedestrian Crash Victim Not Identified
The name of the injured male is pending the notification of the family members. Eventually, his name will come out, but it’s a secret for the time being. This is a respectful choice by the Eugene Police Department to ensure the man’s privacy.
The box truck driver was uninjured and assisted investigators. Driver impairment and vehicle speed were not factors in the crash, the Eugene Police Department said. Therefore, there are a few other potential factors left. Mechanical failure, driver distraction, and road conditions may have played a role in the crash. Hopefully, we’ll find out soon what happened.
