EUGENE, OREGON – Eugene police responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on West 6th and Almaden Street.

A box truck has struck the pedestrian when he stepped into the roadway from the north curb. He was taken to Riverbend Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The Eugene Police Major Collisions Investigation team was called in and is investigating the accident.
The name of the injured male is being withheld pending the notification of the family members.

The box truck driver was uninjured and assisted investigators. Driver impairment and vehicle speed were not factors in the crash, Eugene Police Department said.
