KING CITY, Oregon — A driver struck and seriously injured a pedestrian on Pacific Highway south of King City Tuesday night, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies responded to a report of a crash involving a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 17000 block of the Pacific Highway at 10:10 p.m.

Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue also responded and provided medical aid to the 25-year-old woman who was struck and injured by the vehicle. She was taken to a hospital with critical, life-threatening injuries.

Investigators believe the woman was crossing the highway when she was struck by a southbound driver in a gray Ford Explorer, according to the information at the scene.

The man who was driving stayed at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.

Deputies do not believe speed or impairment caused the crash.

Officials closed the Pacific Highway to southbound traffic between Southwest Fischer Road and Southwest 124th Avenue for about three hours.
